My exhaust is emitting black smoke under full boost (16 psi on stock turbo) at high RPM's. Is this natural? Or is it something that I should look into or worry about?

Any information would be much appreciated

Thanks in advance

Rob

Black smoke = rich AFR condition.

I'd check to make sure you have no boost leaks post turbo. Also make sure you're not running an open BOV dump (i.e. vented to ATM).

BTW.. 16psi on a T-25 is a bit much.

Ok. Well. I am running an atmospheric BOV, and i have yet to have any problems. As far as checking the boost leak, im not really sure how to check that, i will do a search in the fourms tho. I thought that running anything over 16 psi on a t25 was bad.

Thanks

Well guess what? You have a problem :toobad:

If you are running your crappy stock plastic 2G BOV (assume from your profile) they leak like a sieve > 14psi. So you're losing a ton of metered air out the ATM dump of the BOV.. more so under higher boost/RPMs.

Ok. I have a problem. Now. To fix that problem. I have the Dejon Tool Upper and lower IC pipes. And they are already flanged to my current BOV which is a TurboXS HRFL Will any of their other BOVS fit?

thanks again

Rob

sorry, didnt mean to bump this at all, just thought of another question.

If i am runnin rich due to the Atmospheric BOV, how much damage am i doing to the engine?

Either way. What are my options to fix this? I am oppen to any suggestions

Thanks

You're not damaging the engine, but should definitely perform a pressure test of the intake. An aftermarket BOV should not leak under boost (especially 16psi). I'm not familiar with the BOV you have, but if you find it's leaking under boost and it's adjustable, add some more preload adjustment to it.

As I said before, black smoke = rich => you're loosing metered air somewhere.
