Smoking at Idle.

i know this is like the other thread about smoking but mines a little different.


Ok i just bought the car last week, and it has been sitting every since becuase i just got the title to reg. it. Anyways, if i start the car and let it idle for a few minutes it starts blue smoking out of the exhaust. I changed the oil yesterday and it didn't do anything for it. On my air/fuel ratio its border line stoich/rich. The guy i bought it from said that the o2 sensors were going bad.

I havent gotten to drive it yet to see if it smokes while driving it but can someone tell me if its probably just where its sat. (by the way, it sat for a week at his house no driving, then 35 miles to my house, then sat another week at my house)

Do you think the smoke is being caused by the bad o2 sensors?

your o2 sensors would have nothing to do with the smoke. My guess is either bad gas, or something in your exhaust system is burning.

do u think it could have to do iwth possible bad turbo seals?

probably not the turbo if its only at idle. turbos usually smoke upon acceleration. usually at idle it's the valve stem seals, but that's normally white smoke (coolant/water). if its bluish or blackish, its prob oil from somewhere. i'd still check your turbo for shaft play.

alright, im going to go ahead and buy a turbo anyways. a ported and chipped t28.

also i think it wouldn't hurt to go ahead and get a set of valves. can someone tell me whether i should get oem's or get like a set of crowers? if u guys think crower valves could u tell me what size?

also if it does happen to just be the valve seal causing the smoking would the valve set take care of hte problem or would i have to buy the seal? sorry im not that literate in valves.
