Hey everyone my girlfriend has a 97 TSI AWD and out of nowhere it has this really bad vibration in the front of the car.. The steering wheel vibrates really bad  I checked over everything (wheel lugs are tight, air pressure ok, power-steering pump is good) i am not sure what else it could be......any suggestion would be great so that i can get it fixed

How about a bunch of suggestions?
1. Check the CV joint** This is most likely your problem

I won't bother with the rest of it since well ^^^

Lets try something even easier.
Since it's up in speed when it does it.....
One or both of her front tires may be out of balance.

Yea more than likely your tires are out of balance if it only vibrates 60-70 mph. And you say the steering wheel also vibrates.

Mine did the same thing, i balanced them out, put em back on and i could go 100 and the vibration never came back. So go to your local tire Shop (granted you dont have a balancer yourself) fork out a lil bit of cash and the vibration should sease.

yes i noticed my typo.. actually i was just too tired and lazy, and figured no one would notice. But damn.. you caught me

I would look at the cv joints. You want to look for the little booties to see if they are ripped any. I would also look at your wheels and see if any of the wheel weights fell off causing your wheels to be unbalanced. Then if those 2 check out good, I would jack the front of the car up and see if you can wiggle the tire back and fourth any. If you can, you could possibly need 1 or 2 new tie rod ends depending on which one or both that wiggle.

just to add on to what everybody else said, get the car off the ground via floorjack/jackstands and check the wheel bearings aswell for unusual play
our cars have tapered bearings that do not need adjusting but if it is loose
it may cause the vibration too.

i would agree with everyone here about the unbalanced tire, and the cv joint. i would say the wheel bearing is bad, since i just got over that myself, but there should be a small vibration at lower speeds if this is it. also does it vibrate when u turn? if it does, this might be from a bad ball joint. jus my $0.02

thanks for all the info ..... hopefully it isn't nothing too big on a side note i rotated the tires and it seemed to help....... bushings looked good.......as well as the bearings.....discount is gonna balance them for me when i get a chance ....... thanx again :thumb:
