toronto,
When I got my car, the alt was fried, and so was the alt fuse.
I changed both, seemed to work fine.

Now, the question is about the lights outside the car. No matter in what position my "Lights Switch" is in, my headlights are always on. Foglights come on when I Put the switch all the way (counter-clockwise) into what should be the ON position. If I de-press my foglight switch, my headlight switch makes no difference to my headlights or anything else for that matter, cause they're always ON.

I'm not sure, but I'm guessing the headlights should always be ON, otherwise it would be useless to have a Lights Switch. The only time my Lights go OFF, is when I shut the car off.

Has anyone had the same problem? Any possible fixes?

P.S. The interior lights for the heater controls dont work either, and my defrost button has a mind of it's on, turning off when it feels like it?

How deep am I in?

P.P.S I have checked all of the fuses, they're all fine.

I thought Canadian cars had to have daytime running lights.

You could check relays, and if you really want it fixed, re-wire them.

I have the same problem with the lights. I'd really like to fix it or my car will go through Silverstars very quickly. Yes, Canadian models are supposed to have daytime running lights, but DRL are normally very weak compared to powered-on lights. My lights stay at full brightness no matter what.

Does anyone know what could cause this and where the culprit relay or whatever is located? I'd really appreciate it.

For cars with DRL, if either the Transistor Relay is shorted (always on) or the DRL Relay2 is stuck on, then the headlight low beams would be on whenever the ignition key is not in off position. The Transistor relay is above the passenger's right foot and the DRL Relay2 is the lower right relay on the interior relay box (not sure where this is but there are 6 total relays on it - one is the starter relay and another the door lock relay so you can use them to find it).
