Gear help (please everyone your help will be apprechiated)

Hey everyone I just signed up so i could post this, I have a 1990 eagle talon n/t I love my car... but lately my cables ####ed up (its a manual) for the stick, well I had to special order the new cables for a week or so i couldnt drive my car but my mom insisted on takin because she has "shit to do" i told that bi*** not to drive my car or she'd #### it up because it was only driving in 3rd gear... well i got the cables hooked them up and made sure everything was good, but it still didnt want to go to gears, so i took them off and put them back on just to make sure i did it right, it still isnt working, so i opened the hood, and un hooked the cables from the motor, and manualy put it in first without the cables, well it will go.. but it will like creep, it doesnt take off.. it will start movin up, so i tryed reverse, and it did the same... I was wondering if anyone knows what i should do or check see if you guys know what's wrong, later...

driving it in third gear, or the wrong gear has burnt your clutch up and now it's slipping. That would be my thoughts.
