Hey guys, so i took off my rusty ass heat shield and found why i car boggs. there is a nice crack dead center...about like 1-2 inches in length...my ? is weather or not is a product i can put on there to temporaly seal it...i wana try find someone around here that can weld and maybe just seal it up that way Thanks

You are S.O.L. until you either get a new manifold or weld that one up. I tried EVERYTHING when my Pacesetter got a crack, and NOTHING worked. JB weld burns off in a matter of seconds, Quicksteel burns off even faster, Exhaust bandages do not stay intact, Muffler putty seems to be the best stuff I could find, but it cracks and blows off in anywhere from a few hours to a couple of days, mostly depending on how its driven. But, if you need to try something, get some Muffler Putty, or Muffler Cement, as it worked best for me.

I don't know of anything that will seal that but old fashioned METAL. Welding is the only solution, and even that will sometimes be temporary if it's not done right.

Muffler seal is meant for mufflers - not exhaust manifolds. The exhaust has had the entire length of the exhaust to cool by the time it hits your muffler - so where your EGTs might be 1100* at the manifold, they're probably closer to 700-800* or less out the tailpipe. Also, mufflers don't see near the amount of backpressure that a turbo exhaust manifold does.

Same problem here- try picking up a new one in a junkyard, I found a 2G manifold for $100.

i'm kinda poor right now so buying a new/used one is out of the question for now...all my money is going towards a european trip i'm planning....i'll ask around about the welding
