Boost Leak?

When I go WOT for a constant amount of time the boost gauge reads almost 20 PSI! It goes to about 19 then falls back down. Even though I did not let off the throttle.

I had a friend with me to confirm this. Am I leaking somwhere?

Also when it hits almost 19 PSI when it peaks the engine seems to hicup once or studder just one time and then the boost pressure contunes back on the down swing at a rapid rate. Im still using the stock turbo.

It would also do this same thing even when not going WOT just cruzing. I had some knock here and there but seems to be phantom.

Running 93 Octane
Plugs Gapped at .50
Royal Purple oil (Napa now carries it)

And how is that homade boost tester on DSMTuners.
 
You should really complete the profile instead of just "more stuff", make it harder to hwlp you. Why are you trying to run 20 psi on T25, not to mention you could be on stock fuel system. Give us more info.
 
Im not trying to run that on the stock turbo its doing that on its own. I found a massive boost leak from the intake to the turbo fixed that and its a bit better. Stock fuel system. Stock everything else exept for BOV new plugs Super AFC II manual boost controller
 
1. Do you at least have a mbc and a boost gauge? how are you able to tell what boost? not the stock gauge I hope.

2. What is the purpose of the safcII?

3. How is the wastgate /bcs hooked up?

Not trying to give you hard time about your setup, just trying to squeeze more info out of you. You either have overboosting/boost controller/wastegate problem or you have boost creep problem, which can not be determine at this time due to lack of detail info. Give me us as much as you can think of, ie "when and what was done right before this problem started? did you do any freemods? is hitting 20 psi imediately or gradually?...etc.
 
Thx old man I updated my mods list I didn't relize it was that important.

And yes I have a boost gauge and a MBC

The SAFC II is to control the mods I have I did the honey comb mod lower and side and the screw. I was running super rich with the stock ECU. The SAFC II was in the car when I bought it.

Im getting ready to head back down to NC tommorow trying to get her at her best performance for the long ride.

Holding off on alot of mods and parts till I get her home. I got the parts for the boost leak tester today going to put it all together and do it in the morning.

O and wastegate and turbo are still stock haven't been touched.

Also im using RRE's AFC settings for mine. Have all the same mods as they have on there list.
 
Yea, start with a boost leak test asap and post back. You have a lot of small issues, for one thing, I would suggest putting back the honey comb and zero out the afc and see what happens. I'm not an expert on tuning but just because another car has the the same exact components doesn't mean it will share the same safc settings, there are too many veriables like boost leak and such. You shouldn't mess with it until you have a logger so you can tell what is going on.
 
I ran it with the combs in and the AFC at 0 and it did fine. I got all the componets for a leak test working on putting it together. Sleeping in late tommorow because tommorow is the drive home day.

Will test it tommorow before I roll and see if I can fix a few things before I head out. Its not knocking at all unless I run it for a while and I get 1 or 2 counts at idle and some crazy numbers switching gears but only for a split second.
 
Lol yea I got the Big 16G sitting in the back of the car ha.

Well it looks to be fixed. I took the intake pipe and all the couplings out and cleaned everything throughly which seemed to help with the seal. And went WOT on I95 and watched the boost gauge and it never lost pressure till I hit a curve in the road. :D Almost went through the rail ha. Glad im riding about 2 inchs off the ground LOL.

I will post up about how the 16G install goes and what that solves. Waiting on the DSM Link cable and should be good for a while after that. I did build the boost leak tester just haven't had a chance to hook it up yet. Hopefully this weekend.

O yea 0 Shaft play in the stock turbo checked it while I had the intake pipe off. I mean 0 play solid as a rock.
