I've got a problem. My car is a 94 mitsubishi eclipse N/A 1.8 liter, my engine won't start. It will start i guess just not turn over and actually start. I've checked the battery and all wires connections. What else could be wrong and could you tell me how to check it.

P.S. I don't want a go to the dealership answer, until I get my next paycheck I don't have the money for them to look at it.

Thanks,
Matt

I'm new to cars, I'm not sure how to check for sparks. I'm guessing you just take out the spark plub and start the car to see if it starts?

Pull one of the spark plug wires out hook up a spark plug to the end of it and crank the motor, if you have spark you'll see it. Oh ya make sure you hold that plug with rubber handle pliers.

beat me to it :p

But yea do that and post results. Right now it could be a number of things.

Alright, I've decided to just change the spark plugs and wires. What kind would you recommend? I'm getting paid next weekend and that will be good for about 300, but 180 goes to my new snowboard.

I tried to read that thread earlier, but it was just way to much for me, I'm good with cars, but I have no gotten down the engine yet. What I really need is just what a good kind of spark plugs and wires are and what size I need. It would help me out very much.

Well if you are looking towards performance wires then I would say get Accel Thundersports. They are around 50 shipped from most places. But if you are just looking to get it runing then I would say NGK wires. Im not sure how much they are but they are probably a little cheaper then the Accel wires.

For plugs, you want NGK BPR6ES'. Dont let anyone talk you into Bosch platinum 4 or something. Just because it has 3 more prongs, does not mean their better for DSM's.

So see what taht does then post back.
