What did you do different when you installed the gears? Log the idle and cruise. Screwed up timing position?

Did you dial in your cams after you installed the gears or did you just guess at it. Were the cams original or some trick grind?

This does not preclude that you have something else going on.

Yeow, did the cam gear maker give you any information which would help you? Unfortunately it's not going to be a 10 minute job so if you have reason to suspect it could be something else do rule that out.

You need a dial indicator and at least 1 "degree wheel" which you can make using a protractor. The better the protractor the better the results.

Read through the links I've listed, I did not follow any others at this time. Skip the attitudes some people can't help being contentious. Post #: 8, 10, 19, have some important data that is not easily found. Also note that if you mix and match cams from different years you will improve performance over any single set/year without going to a custom grind. My posts will describe in detail how to make and use your home made degree wheel.

Here is another thread which may have some info.

If you take the cam followers out you can then do this without bumping valves or having to mess with the timing belt.

Let me know if you have questions or don't understand something.

GTM
