Installed a TRE Race tranny along with an ACT 2900 w/ street/strip disc and ACT Streetlite f/w. Got it all back on and got it broken in. At about 600miles I started noticing a vibration (however slight). Got worse quick w/in one day. All of a sudden it would'nt go into gear. Had to FORCE it just to get it home (about 15miles). And at a stop it made the most GOD AWFUL noise you've ever heard. Just imagine the loudest screeching sound possible. People were looking at me like my car was going to fall apart. Once it started moving though the sound pretty much went away. Finally got it home and after looking things over found that the forward bolt (down by the slave cyl.) had backed itself out about 1"!! You could stick your finger between the tranny and the block! Tightened it up and walla, no sound. BUT...then I noticed a ch ch ch ch ch ch ch ch sound coming from the tranny area ONLY at idle in Neutral w/ the clutch OUT. W/ the clutch depressed it went away. Car seemed to run 100%. Nothing at all on the logger as far as knock or anything. Well, we pulled the tranny last night and things SEEM to look ok. So, my question to you all is, what is likely the bad part I'm hearing?? Internal on the tranny (shifts like butter)...input shaft bearing?? Bad TOB w/o it physically "looking" bad? I'm up in the air on this and don't want to put it back together w/o some more ideas of what I should look at. Oh, and the pp and f/w seem fine. Along w/ the disc (springs look a-ok). Please post some ideas! Thanks!

It was the disc. The torque from the tranny backing off put so much pressure on the disc that it "loosened" it up. Sounded like a baby rattle when you shook it around. Put in a new disc and problem solved. Also safety wired the forward tranny bolt to the bell housing to keep it from backing off. So far so good!

2900 lb pressure plate? Are you planning on making 600 hp?

At any rate, good that you got it fixed, but putting that large of a pressure plate on your car will cause other problems for you down the road. Good luck man.

Car's already made close to 500whp. So, yeah, I plan on 600whp before it's said and done. If not more. The old 2600 was slipping at the track w/ the slicks. Period. Hence the 2900.
