I just bought a 1995 Mitsubishi Eclipse GS-T and now the tranny is acting up. The previous owner had it looked at and the mechanic said that the transmission casing and the rod that goes through it is bad. I guess it had a groove worn into it and they even tried taking it to a transmission shop to have it sanded down and smoothed out. They tried doing that for a temporary fix but it didn't work at all. now I'm going to either have to replace the whole transmission or the "casing".I'm guessing the casing he's talking about is the casing around the transmission but I'm not even sure about that. So what do you think this rod going through the casing is?
What the car is doing is the clutch slips as if it were bad. Except I've already replaced the clutch, slave cylinder, and master cylinder. Also, the car won't go into or out of gear after the car warms up after about 20 miles. Do you guys have any idea what is wrong with my car?
