sometimes when im driving in like 1st gear and i pop off the throttle and leave it in gear the car bucks back and forth a lot. is this normal or is something wrong?

My car was doing that when it was running rich due to boost leak, I fixed the leak and it went away.

well if it was doing it in any other gear other then 1st id think theyre may be somehting wrong, but thats pretty normal behaviour for 1st gear in these cars at least.
I wouldnt be to concerned about it. Instead of letting off the throttle maybe just shift to 2nd gear instead.

i think once it warms up a bit ill change all the fluids in my tranny, transfer case, and differentials. then ill check for a boost leak. i still have the factory ic piping on so i wouldnt be suprised if im pumping boost through a peice of swiss cheese. thanks for the ideas... ill check it out.

just use fuel injector cleaner or what?

I don't know for sure what to use because he is cheap and it doesn;t bother him, but I'm gonna pick up a bottle of fuel injector cleaner at pep boys for him next time.

Your mods list says you have a TurboXS H34. If that is true, then you might have it set too tight and you're getting compressor surge. I get this sometimes with my crushed 1G.

nope, its not compressor surge that im aware of. usually this bucking is before any sort of boost....

however, i will look into it... i might just sell the damn thing cause id rather have an hks ssqv for when i get my green this summer...

If you're not at 18+ of vac, then your turbo is pushing some air. If you suddenly close the throttle when the turbo is pushing air, then you have a chance of causing surge. The times that I get it is when I lift from part throttle with about 5 psi. Without help from the bottom side, my overly crushed 1G CBV doesn't open fast enough, et voila. But it's the price I pay to keep the darned thing shut at WOT. I've (almost) learned to drive around it.

mine seems to be fine at 15psi or 2 psi. it sounds like it opens up but im not sure. ill try to be more aware of what its doing.
