:laser: ok my motor just came back from shop and were puttin it in car.its been a long time since its been gone so my question is.i got a header so when i put it on and turbo goes under it what else holds turbo in place,like to the motor block.or is that just it the header.what i need is some good pics or someone to tell me im not crazy...LOL...please help

The weight of the turbo is supported by the exhaust manifold it hangs from, as well as the oil drain line. That line is pretty stout so it can take the weight of the turbo.

If you're reinstallling the turbo, here's a quick tip: Seperate the exhaust housing from the turbo and install the compressor side first. It'll be much easier to reach the oil and coolant lines that way, and it's a lot less weight you're fiddling around with when you're trying to position the turbo.

Is it a pace setter header? If it is, I recommend getting the supporting bracket welded better or another custom bracket onto that, If it is infact a pacesetter. Mine snapped clean off a month later the whole flange ripped apart.
 
dont tell me that man cause thats what i got.now see thats what i was afraid of.hmm so ill have to mod me a bracket.
 
I had no complaints with it the whole time I was using it, But then one day I heard a really loud exhaust leak and looked and that bracket in the middle, It snapped off at the weld, Which then cause there to be a crack right across the back of the collector. I got a brand new one for free, They even paid shipping.

It might not even happen to you, But I was just letting you know just incase you have the equiptment available this way you can be safe and do it now , Instead of having to take it all apart down the road.
 
thanks for tellin me ill have a bracket made and put it on and hope for the best.you would think they would have a backet for the stock manifold since it cracks like crazy.oh well ill have to ask my old man to make me one he knows about machine work.thanks man :thumb:
 
No problem, Also, When I useto have my b16g and that header.. I bolted the header to the turbo in my house, So it was the header/turbo/lines/o2 housing. Then I just placed it all in together, I know one of the bolts on that header is a pain to get in, To the turbo.. So you might want to put it all together out of the car, Then drop it all in at once. It will be a bit heavier, But definatly easier. :)
 
Thats funny...i have the pacesetter as well. its been on since june so its 7 months and still crack free...of course its been aluminized so it made it a lil' bit stronger and able to touch the header after a 2 hour drive in about 10 min. ;) o well i would look into getting the header metalized before installing...it'll be a lot stronger.
