A friend of mine just bought a 94 2gen Mitsubishi Eclipse 2.0 FWD automatic.Problem he is having is power loss, complete power loss when ever it feels like it.Driving around with an OBDII hooked up when it happens says "no signal".When this happens while driving when the power comes back on the car has to be restarted.Does any one have any idea what cause's this?I assume it is a short some where in the electrical system. It does this even if it is just sitting idleing.A few times in the morning it was like this as well no power like a dead battery.Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

A 94 2g? Does that mean it was manufactured in 94? All 2gs are 95-99

Do you mean the car just shuts off while you're driving? Try to be a little more detail so we can help you.

If they weren't secure or if your alternator was out, the battery light on your gauge cluster would be illuminated.

Not necessarily. My friend's Spyder had this same problem and it would only occur while he was driving. He'd hit a bump or something and for that brief instant he would lose power and then it would return. His ground cable was loose and was wiggling around. It was still making contact when the vehicle was stationary but would get knocked around while driving. That's why I asked.

He doesn't get any lights when it happens. He said it was a 94 but it probubaly is a 95.It is definetly a 2G.I mentioned to him to check the the ground that it may be faulty even if it isn't loose.I will talk to him tonight and post again. Thanks for the input.
