The car I just bought came equipped with the victory performance fmic, featuring short routed piping. The shifter inside the car was acting extremely strange in that it wanted to rest between 1st and 2nd, and had to be pushed extremely hard to get over to 5th and R, basically took 2 hands. I got under the hood and was able to observe that the cable modulated by the side to side movement of the shifter is contacting the upper intercooler pipe and actually pushing it about an inch or so. Why is this? The victory performance intercooler is supposed to be a good kit right? Anybody know of others having this problem? What do I need to do to fix this? Thanks for the help.

I don't know about the victory performance kit but my Buschur kit came with a hump hose before the tb elbow which allows me to play with the piping route a little.

The intercooler piping doesn't come anywhere NEAR the shift linkage on the tranny. You must be referring to the piping running off the turbo INLET. Short route piping runs to the left and above the tranny. My 3" intake pipe will hit the shifter linkage arms a bit. I loosened up the clamp, offset the intake tube just a hair, then retightened. Works great.

Take some pics and i bet it's the turbo inlet pipe you are referring to.

Yes, I'm sure it's the intercooler pipe, the part between the intercooler outlet and the throttle body. Apparently on victory kits this comes right by the shift linkage. The 3" intake on the 50 trim is very clear of anything. The counter weight has already been cut off by the previous owner, which would only potentially interfere with the throw of the shifter, not side to side. The consensus I got from the people at NABR is that it's just a piss poor design and I should custom fab my own piping, which I have no capacity to do. Perhaps I'll contact a few exhuast shops around town or AHP performance and see if they will bend me some pipes that work.

Does anyone have a link for AHP? Couldn't find a link, and I don't know what the acronym stands for.

Thanks,

i had this exact problem, i couldn't shift into park, and reverse would pop out of gear by itself all the time.. all i did was make a mounting bracket to support my intake tubing higher up (it was drooping down and a coupler was in the way of the shift linkage).

I ended up fixing it simply by rearranging all the existing piping slightly. Apparently the shop that put in my clutch didn't know enough to not have the intercooler piping resting on the shift linkage. Plus it was leaking at every coupling, according to my leak tester. So that's all better now.
