start the car... if i could record it i'd do it right away because its not a good sound...
about 3-5 seconds of this strange metal on metal spinning but not sound I Will record this at the first possible chance... its sickening sounding for me to hear

started after i had a battery (never by exide.) only top charge

i made the mistake of holding the key while the battery charged up somewhat and eventually (perhaps a good minute or so later) start up

i did this for about a week twice a day to and from work

afterwards i had my clutch done
bought a redtop optima battery (why not?)
just prior i had a mechanic perform my 60k services
i've changed my 1gen exhaust manifold to a 2g unported (had some major cracking)
had a broken throttle body gasket .. fixed with rtv silicone *chuckles* ghetto


ALright thats just ONE problem to diagnoise today...

SEcond While running particularly at idle there is a singular strong tapping knock that increases with rpms until the engine becomes louder then the knocking sound. yet my datalogger detects no knock from the knock sensor which baffles me because this is not some quiet tap (not the ticking from lifters)

between 2-3k rpms roughly and ONLY at decelleration i get this Loud gurgling bubbling exhaust sound and its damn loud

on second thought it may not be exhaust
if your transfer case is going out what are the symptoms?
in all extreme cases and subtilities
engine mounts are 14 years old so at decel it would rest differently then with any throttle pressed making it tilt silghtly differently perhaps causing noise? i'm not sure to tell the truth
all i know is it sounds like exuast really loud exhaust


And lastely for now

its getting cold out
i'm scared my lil 14b is going out cold makes ya see the early exhausts more

after warming it up a lil while somewhere round 100 coolant temp
i take off down the road
and its only when its cold so far sa i've seen and its cold out side
when i hit turbo it leaves this lingering pot hole of nasty white smoke in the middle of the road
its very white not blueish at all to me

perhaps greyish though
i've only seen it in the rear view mirrors and faintly when i turned around once
but i dont leave a trail of nasty smoke behind me as i go down the road least not one i can see

anyone living in the vancouver area of washington state know if dick hannah is the only chrysler dealer within reasonable distance? (had a bad experience with them would much perfer somewhere else) i need the t case recall performed .. built in november of 90 .. this 91's gone this long without the recall performed and only has 57k on the meter

Take the intake off and check it for shaft play.(smoke at boost)

Does the car run rich do you have any kind of A/F gauge? Running rich would def make clouds behind you when you boost. Any CEL codes? A bad coolant temp sensor would be able to cause your starting issue and make you run rich.(smoke at boost)

My old cat would make ticking noises after I shut the car off. My friend also claimmed they smell but I have no idea what he was talking about. New high flow cat *silence*

sound like all the others on here but i had the intake off while i was cleaning the k&n and doing the exhaust manifold not very long ago i was worried bout shaft play so i tested couldnt find any most the time i might have been imagining it but every once in a blue attempts it felt like it went <--> not upand down or out of circle or anything just a tiny hair as well it could be just my imagination on that one..

no cel codes how would i test the coolant temp sensor?... also i only have the datalogger and it read while my throttle body gasket was broken i was pullni in 130% ftrl (mmcd)
but after i fixed it down it dropped to 98 - 102

as far as the cat goes my car makes a almost water boil kind of strange sound not engine side but about mid car after its turned off and you have to be down under it to hear it asked a mechanic bout it when he was doin the 60k service and said it was just normal sounds and not to be worried .. but the car only ticks when running

both there
first it wouldnt start
then it would turn over slower and slowly slowly build up to starting speeds after a lil while

plus i jsut wanted a new battery cause the exide didnt fit right and was giving me trouble

thank you for reading my giant post i need to build a leak tester but none of the hardware stores around here have a 2.5 endcap starting to get frustrated there

i have definate power loss as well so i supspect a boost leak ontop of this all just need to test it to find out where

Try it when the motor is cold and when you get the car up to normal temp.
