Cruise Control Surge

im havign a problem with my cruise control, when i turn it on the green light comes on so i let off the gas, the car starts to slow down, then build boost and accelerates tot eh speed i have set it at, then stops and dropes again, then catche sit self and starts to pull again, no my car build boost instantly on the highway so the car pulls damm hard when it does this!

it will contiune to do this unti li shut it off, i replaced the vacume line but it didnt help, its not clutch switch related cause i have tested that

coudl the vacume pump be going bad? it seems liek its just slugish to react, and when it does at has fallen so far behind that it hammers the gas down and pulls up to speed and then shuts down again, i do alot of highway driving so riping it out isnt an option either

any clues as to what the problem might be?

Did you find out if it was the pump or not having the same issue with my 91 auto

I am also having the same issues with the cruise control on my VR4. Setting a speed on a flat road will have the throttle oscillate between 20vac and 0vac, even building boost to 5 psi at times, where if I were to just drive and maintain that speed, I would only have a constant 10vac on the boost guage.

I got another wreak and swapped everything off that and still have the same problems.

I'm an electronics and control systems whiz, I'm thinking of ripping all of it out and rebuilding my own controller that actually works, but that would be a lot of work to figure out that I'd rather just avoid.
