I am using the FAQ tranny pulling instructions and I have run into a problem with the lower lateral link bolt.

I was able to remove the nut off the end but the bolt won't budge. I have tried a big MF'n hammer but it wont come out. Any suggestions, advice, or tips welcomed.

Thanks in advance,
Jeff Jeske

If you're talking about the big bolt that holds the control arm to the frame; that bolt is difficult to remove sometimes. remove the bolts that hold the rear end of the control arm to the frame (so you can wiggle the control arm a bit) and see if that helps. If not, get a small flathead screwdriver in there so you can hammer on the underside of the bolt head and hammer it out of there; there's not a lot of room in there to do but be patient.

That's the bad boy I am talking about. Thanks for the advice. Keep m' coming.

Well I got that bolt out. It took more than an hour and lots of PB blaster.

I actaully had to jack up the lower control arm to relieve pressure on the bolt but even that didn't help much. I ended up putting the imact gun on it and just spinning it while spraying the bolt with penetrating oil...that seemed to help loosen it up enough to beat it out with a pry bar and a sledge.

Not fun at all.
