well i had my head taking in to have some valves replaced. they replaced 4 intake valves. well now comes the problem. i'm reinstalling the cams and when i tighten them down it's opening all the valves. they all have a good tight seal without the cams in so what's up? it's on both the intake and exhaust side that it's happening. i can't figure this one out. i've tried different cams, same deal. different tightening patterns, same deal. putting the cams in first and then popping the rockers in like in the vfaq, same deal. i'm puzzeled. can anyone figure this out ?

well the way the cams sit, your going to have some valves slightly open.... as long as they close fine when you rotate the cam alittle... then it shouldnt be a problem... the other thing it could be is the lifters... did you bleed them when you put them back in???

no the valves were all open,a lot !!! and no i didn't bleed them. i didn't know you could until a few minutes ago. i got one bleed and stuck it in on a valve that was staying open before and sure enough it fixed it.

i bled all the lifters and that fixed it. i tried to do it like the vfaq stated but all that accomplished was to break paperclips inside of two of the lifters. good thing i have a spare head. we just put them in a vise (make sure to use wood) and bleed the crap out of them. hope this helps someone else.
