I have a 92 tsi. My mods are gutted cat, mbc at about 12psi, muffler, and a k&n filter no can. The car runs good excrpt sometimes in second. It will pull sometimes and sometimes it wont. all the other gears seem to pull fine. My trans. grinds when I go into second. I put a new slave cylinder on thinking that would help. It doesn't grind as much and when it does it is not as bad as it used to be. By the way after I put the new slave cylinder on it makes this noise when i press in on the cluch. It is coming from the area around the slave cylinder. Any way i dont know why sometimes it doesnt pull in second. I will tell you right now that i do have an exhaust leak at the cat where it was welded back on. But i think if that was it, all the gears would be acting up. I dont if a boost leak can sometimes only affect one gear or not. Would the second gear syncros going out make my tranny slip or something, and thats why it is not pulling as hard? i dont know, but I need some help.

Re-bleed the clutch system, to see if that eliminates any grinding in your transmission.

As far as your car not pulling sometimes, you might want to check for any problems with your engine instead of the transmission. Fluid changes, filter replacements, checking for boost leaks, things like that. When it's not pulling, does it feel like it has absolutely no power? What is your engine speed when yo have a good acceleration run and a not-so-good acceleration run?

It just feels like it is struggling to boost in second. When I put the slave cylinder on i put all new fluid in the master cylinder and in the line.

It's really hard to tell if you're having a problem or not. The only thing I can think of is that you're dealing with boost lag, where the engine isn't gong to really wake up until after 3000 rpms when the turbo spools up. I can't think of anything else.
