wierd alternator tensioner bracket, help.

had my car('93 talon tsi awd) for about a month. has had a bad belt squeal/scream for a while now. i have never seen this kind of tensioner bracket before, wanted to see if you guys knew what kind of car had the same tensioner set up. i need to get this thing tensioned so I can get rid of this rediculous belt screaming. and so I don't burn up the belt letting it scream down the street while going 45mph. hah

any help would greatly be appreciated. :thumb:

Why do you want to know what cars had the same tensioner setup?
You just want to know how to tighten it right?

I just wrote this guy a basic write up.
I am sure if you check out the tech articles here or vfaq.com you should be able to find a detailed writeup.
 
"If it is loose there should be an adjuster (If the 1G is different someone please correct me but I believe it is pretty much the same) there should be a bolt that goes through the adjuster into the alt, there should be a long bolt that goes from the bracket into the adjuster. First loosen the bolt that goes through the adjuster and alt then tighten the adjustor bolt untill it is within specks, next tighten the bolt going into the alt. I always give the adjustor bolt a couple turns afterwards to put tension on it so it is less likely to come loose. "

that is from your write up. and it was a good one. but the problem is I don't have the adjuster bolt, and long bolt. I tried using the typical adjuster set up from a 1g. but alas the bolt didn't fit right. that was why I was asking which car that bracket(in the picture) came out of. so I could go find one in a junkyard. and put an end to this.

Ah I understand now.
It is a bit different than the 2g.
Hopefully a 1Ger can help you out. I am pretty sure any 1990-94 Eclipse Talon or Laser would work but I am not positive.
 
you can get the tesioner bolt out of any 90-94 Eclipse, Talon or Laser with the 4g63 motor. If you're in a bind and can't find one of those in the local junkyard, and can look under the hood of some Hyundai's(sp) they also use a version of the 4g63 and have the same Alt bracket. I know this from personal experience because the Alt that is in my GSX now is from a Hyundia.

thanks for the replies. i should be swapping the brackets out this weekend hopefully. just a little scetched out to pull the pulley off that is in the way of pulling the bolt out. :thumbdown

but hopefully it isnt too bad.
