hard vibrations over 3g

ive just bought a 93 n/t 2.0 eagle talon got a good deal but when the engine goes over 3000 rpms it has some hard vibrations. Theyre worse under load, consistent, and the engine vibrates a little at idle too. but at 3g become very bad. Please help if youve had similiar problems. or might know a possible solution.

check the timing belt faq at www.vfaq.com. it's really easy not to get ALL of the timing marks lined up when the t-belt is installed. this puts the balance shafts out of phase which will cause instead of cancel vibrations.

I doubt it, My harmonic balancer just died and there was only a mild vibration. It started rubbing on the timing belt cover and whatever hunk of metal was in the way before it got far enough off to vibrate real bad. It was a very unpleasant sound. You will have to take the harmonic balancer off to check the balance shaft timing any way so give it a good look over while your at it.
When I first got my gsx the balance shaft was off time and it shook exactly the same. It is almost unnoticable under 3000 or so but above that it gets worse the higher you go.

^ ^ ^ The harmonic balancer will seldom get a shake past the engine mounts.

Your rear balance shaft is most likely 180° out of phase.

thank you all for the advice im going to check my balance shafts (or have someone else do it so i dont f#*k it up) maybe when i get my underdrive pully. I cant wait to start moding it. im thinking stock turbo intake cam header back exhaust underdrive pulley, and custom cold air.
