spark knock

does anybody have any advise on spark knock, i did the balance shaft elininator and engine has noise at certain rpm's, anything above it goes away, anything below it goes away, i can retard timing it goes away but runs like crap! my knock sensor is stripped in the block,so i install a new one on bracket on top of engine. please help!!!!???? 1991 awd talon

youre going to have to retap that KS hole and helicoil it. No way around that. That KS has to be in that hole right next to the freeze plug.

thanks, i'm not looking foward to that. it's hard to get to on this awd.

If you pull the intake manifold brace and DP its actually not too bad to get to. If you pull the intake manifold it is very easy. But a lot of work still. How did you strip out the hole? its cast iron.

i didn't it was already like that. i bought the car off e-bay about two mo. ago. when i tried to get it out it just spins in the block. i may have to cut it off and tap it.i dread it.
