Motor Surges mid RPM's

Ok here goes, have a 95 Eclipse Non Turbo. seems the motor surges above idle and below 4K. Ive replaced plugs (twice), wires (OEM), and coil pack. Ive had the TPS checked and replaced the engine coolant sensor. The head has been gone through (warped due to overheating) and a new timing belt was installed (timing is correct, checked it twice). The CEL does not come on nor does it throw any codes. This happens when both driving the car and holding the gas peddle down. The tach drops like 300 rpms thenm picks right back up. Above 4K it runs awesome, lots of power and no surges. Also I have checked the EGR and it seems to be working fine, also checked for vacume leaks... none was found.

If someone could help with this I'd greatl appreciate it

Did you replace the ECU when you added a turbo to your car? It could be an ECU problem. I know this might sound strange, but take the 10 minutes or maybe less, and take the ECU out, and smell it. If it has some gawd-awefull smell like fish or something, then your ECU is going bad.

The eclipse is NON turbo. I'm not sure why it says w/turbo. But I have looked at the ECU it looks fine. No fish smell and inside the ECU its covered in epoxy.. I wasn't aware that the 2g had the ECU problem. I guess I could try and pick up another from a junkyard.. or perhaps have this one checked???????

no help on this? I'm trying to run ejector cleaner thru the car now... Its just so strange as to why it only surges mid rpm's... Could the knoock sensor be going bad? maybe giving a false knock signal... making the time retard... making the surge???
