maf translator and fuel mix

i just recently installed a maf translator on my 94 talon. with an autometer a/f gauge and new o2 sensor, i adjusted till running best. now here's the funny part. i have 550cc injectors and i had to set it for 660cc injectors. my idle, mid and wot is set at 7, 7, and 6. car idles almost perfect. 35-45mph runs great. wot seems good, pegs rich but not too much smoke. now at any speed in between the voltage on the o2 sensor goes buy-buy and it shows nothing. on the hiway at 60-80, still no lights on my gauge but my egt's are at about 14-1450 degrees F. as far as i know that's ok but i get a stutter from time to time also. just kinda bogs down and kicks back up again. at wot my egt's are at about 1550, i had expected closer to 1600 degrees. as far as it indicates, it runs well, not great but good enough. would you guys have an idea as to what that stutter was and why i get nothing on my gauge. yes i know it's an autometer but it's all i have for the time being. pretty soon i am gonna have trave 1200 miles cross country for a move and i wanna have confidence that my baby will make it.

First, what made you to set it for 660s when you have 550s? Also, what are you doing for a fuel pump? Are you datalogging? O2 voltage and an a/f gauge just won't cut it when tuning your car. You need to be able to look at timing, knock, and fuel trims. Forget o2 and a/f unless you have a wideband.
 
i had it set for 550cc injectors but the car wouldn't run right. sputtered alot. as for a fuel pump, it's stock. i do have a walbro uprgrade though. just haven't installed yet. yeah i was told about the wide band but don't have the money for it just yet. not dataloging either. what is a good way to check fuel trim. is there a voltage i can look for. the timing should be right, i just had my timing belt changed by a certified mechanic. not brave enough to do that on my own for that reason. and what is the best way to monitor knock.

A good way to check your fuel trims is with a datalogger. There's no voltage to look for to see your fuel trims, knock, timing, etc.... You need to get the info right from the ECU. While fuel trims are important, knock and ignition timing are the two things you need to look at. Too much knock and you can have detonation resulting in engine failure. Plus, your car pulls ignition timing (not cam timing) when the knock count gets too high which hurts performance. If you keep running your car, playing with the fuel, and not using a datalogger to read knock and timing, then you will destroy your engine, and it will run like ass. There is no middle ground here. GET A DATALOGGER! Get a datalogger cable off ebay and use the mmcd software if you can't afford one from Digital Tuning. An EGT is fine, but it will show low readings if you are actually detonating. Also, you might have a dying o2 sensor which would explain the gauge issue. When you decelerate, the gauge will show nothing on it since the car pulls fuel when you let off the throttle.
