I just picked up my turbo car last night $450 wrecked on the driver side with a grinding tranny. Well, I got bad news, I think I blew it up The vaccum line came off the wastegate actuator and without the tach working I redlined 2nd racing a camaro and soon enough shes blowing hella smoke and oil is coming out of somewhere below the engine. Oil was seaping through that huge crack on the exhaust manifold, hella smoke coming from the turbo area and out of the tail pipe. Im gonna have to say turbo is wasted and something interanally melted. Shes sitting in a bank parking lot until I can get it towed home to pull it apart

Compression wasnt great to start with, I checked it yesterday when i bough it. 135-135-125-125 I'll recheck tomorrow, but the way its blowing smoke somethings has gone bad very bad. It still seems to idle smooth, but smokes like a raped ape. Ill know more tomorrow when I get it towed home

God that sucker was hella fast OMG

ya, not having a vac hose on the wg is bad news, happened to me, my car felt really fast, and i boosted hard in 3rd and it flew to like 25 or so psi.
do another compression test, and see if its much worse, to bad youre car didnt hit fuel cut and save youre engine potentially...

125 is lower than the service spec anyhow. you really bought a lemon... time for a rebuild. lucky i have some 2g pistions and rods and a hg and some stuff for sale.. hit me up.

Actually 121 is service for the 1G turbo, it was close. About the parts for sale let me get a compression check on the engine again and pull all the turbo related parts off the front of the motor. Ill get back at you, but money is tight and I think this is gonna take me a few months to get the engine good again.

I bought this car in hopes to do a full turbo conversion on my NT. This car looks to have been beat to hell. Pics are in this THREAD However its got all the parts needed for my conversion.

Dam that car was fast OMG

Ok I got the car tore down. Looks like the turbo is definetely shot hella in and out play with some side to side play. 2 rockers jumped off the lifters and were hiding in the head, 1 rocker's cracked. However all valves look fine. Nock sensor is hella leaking. Exhaust manifold is cracked, oil return line leaking. Theres alot of work to do. Im in for a rebuild kit now. :talon:

The slowboy option is the root im taking, I already had that in mind. I would like 2g pistons on 1g rods, but i dont know if I need to take my head/block into the machine shop first and see how far it needs to be machined or what not. Ill post up how that goes here in a week or 2. If I go your route though, are the rods already machined? How much?

I think the turbo ate something somehow :( The flywheel got chewed up by the starter and the clutch disk has a broken spring. 2 injectors have cracked ends, and a broken timing cover. The engine bay is cleared out and in my garage along with some interior pieces. Now where in the heck is the darn fuel pump located and how do i get it out? The links on the vfaq.com isnt working :(
