hey, alright i have no idea what the hell is wrong with my car im guessing it might be broken shift forks and a tranny thats really on its way out the door....ok scince i got the car ive noticed it is very hard to get it into gear, lately its been so bad that its almost like there is a solid object in the way of the gear and i have to basicaly shove it until it makes a popping noise and then it will unwillingly go in ....then all of a sudden tonight when i put it into reverse there was a violent slam and then a grind and the shifter flew back into neutral....almost like i slmmed into something backing up it was crazy as shit and kind of shook me up because for a second i actually did think i backed up into something...i dont know i just need help on diagnosing the problem and fixing it as fast as i possibly can.... :dsm:

Well Ill tell ya, I have gone through three trannies in mine since I bought it. This is what Ive learned.
#1 Check and make sure that your motor mounts are all good and replace with pro urithane.
#2 Check your fluid level in your tranny. The 5 speed takes 2.8 QTs not a drop more. If you have to much fluid in your tranny It will do exactly what you are talking about. Open the fill plug while the car sits on all four tires, on level ground. If anything (fluid) comes out, let it, until it stops.
#3 Make sure that you have the right fluid. Ive played with differnt types and brands and I think next time Im gonna opt for the shock proof racing fluid. It may cost an arm and a leg but really you only have to change it once. Everyone here seems to like the pennsoil syncromesh 75/90 full synthetc. I have it in my car now and I dont like it.
#4 Never put a donut tire on the front of your car. If your front tire blows switch it with the back and put the donut on back. If you run one small tire on your drive wheels it will break the final drive. Bad, bad.
From what you said it sounds as though your syncros are shot. You could spend the money and have it re-built. (I wouldnt) or you could go to your local wrecking yard and buy a used one that came from a rolled or otherwise asthetically wrecked car. The only reason that Ive gone through so many of my own was cause I was learning about these mits trannies. When you got sooo much power it gets hard to keep certain pieces together. I hope this helps.
