hey i started hearing a ticking noise and i thought maybe my belt is loose or something but i checked it and it seemed ok. then i added oil and it made the ticking noise quieter. then this morning i turn the car on and it has a light saying it needs coolant, brake like the e-brake is on and the battery. also i lost power steering then i drove it a bit and it started overheating like crazy the temp gauge goes all the way up. then i checked the the belts again and one of them came off. im not sure what its called but i think its below the timing belt.
any help is appreciated.

for the ticking that is your lifters... our cars do that sorry its annoying i know it. for the overheating how old or how long ago did you change your thermostat? and for you belts if you say you had no power steering then it might have been your power steering belt but besides that theres you alternater belt and A/C belt. hope that helps

yea thanks if there anyway to stop the ticking and i never changed my thermostat cuz i just bought the car about 5 months ago and its a 91 non-turbo talon.

a way to stop the ticking... well you could probably buy a new set of lifters i think the make a aftermarket set that is supposed to not tick but i dont know if they work or not, and the lifters are not that cheap if you have a very small budget i believe they can run 17.00 and up for one. You could also try using oil additive, which i purchased from advance auto but can be found else where. I used it and it helped out alittle. Change the thermostat takes like not even 15 minutes part costs like 15.00 dollars.

sounds to me like your alternator/water pump/power steering belt is loose/slipping.

The belt you are having issues on is it the one on the far right (outside) of all the components on the right side of the engine??

If it is get that belt tightened up and your problems should go away.
