canada,
Upon inspection of my alternator i saw that there is a black wire with a yellow stripe
hanging lose at the bottom of it.

My car will run when boosted but after i shut it off it wont start. Could the lose alternator wire (above) cause my problem, or could it be a fuse of some sort.

Thanks

On a 2g turbo the black/yellow wire goes to the charging warning lamp and a generator relay (which acts as a backup supply to the alternator field coil should the charging warning lamp not work). So I think you need it for proper battery charging. Hope that helps.
