Alright guys, just got back from the MITSU dealer and what a joke...they wanted 2500 to replace my stock 14b turbo...gotta pretty nasty crack in the housing...so heres my question, if i replace it...what else do i need to replace and do you guys know any good deals/sites to get it from, exact specs would help here, i have a 1991 gsx auto also is it true with a turbo exhaust leak that would cuase bad gas mileage?? PLEASE HELP :thumb: :dsm:
 
first off if you have a 1991 automatic gsx you don't have a 14b you have the pathetic 13g. sorry for the bad news. look through the classifieds section and you could probably find the larger exhaust manifold and 14b that you'd so love to have. also you could find the ecu and injectors you'll need as well to really push that 14b the way i'm sure you want to.
 
Really, the auto's have a 13g turbo? my bad well anyways i need to replace the manifold?? i'm talkin about just a new bolt on turbo my pathetic stock one is cracked to hell. please help! :cry:
 
just like mavisky said, go out search the classifieds or dsmtrader for a 14b and a 2nd gen exhaust manifold. You will be a happy man after you replace both, also if you know someone who does good port work on dsm's have them port your exhaust manifold and turbo.

i suppose you could have them port it, but that's going to take some time.

and you can see why that wouldn't be the best for maximum power or most importantly spoolup time.
 
So a 2nd gen manifold and a 14b will fit in fine then? what about if i got a 16g would that fit ok? and what else would i need to replace along with the turbo...like oil lines and stuff or what? cuz the turbo is totally busted.
 
i believe the lines are the same, but i'm not 100% sure on that. i'd stick to a 14b now if you don't have any fuel upgrades. besides you could get a 14b and 1g mani for about $175 or so.

well man...honestly we are just trying to save you a little money here and gain a little power at the same time. If you want you can run your stock 1g o2 housing, you might have issues with creep later on down the road. If you wanna solve some of that problem right now you can always port the o2 or there are many different options on o2housings for our cars. It all depends on how much money you have and are willing to spend. But these parts are very common and are always floating around on the trader and in the classifieds here and can be had for cheap.

my suggestion: 14b, 2g exhaust manifold, 2g o2housing(if you want it) honestly for all 3 of those parts you shouldnt spend over a few hundred shipped.
 
sounds good thanks alot, hey do you have aol? this would be alot easier to talk about online, we could help each other out here, i'm a certified stereo installer so i know my electronics adn i do actually know alot about dsm's just not much about turbo's, so let me know if u have aol and thakns again i'll be doing all 3 of those mods shortly
