I have been running the maft w/ blow thru setup for a few months now. My car is pretty much stock except for that, uicp, 3" catback, HKS SSQV. When I put it on I have had nothing but problems with it. I have it set on the base setting with just the injectors set. When ever I drive around normally the car will build boost like normal. It will go up to like 6 or 7 psi but it feels like the car is holding back and the more throttle you give it the more it seems like its holding back. It can be making 10 psi and feel like its making about 2 or 3 psi. I have checked and double checked for boost leaks and there is none. Now my car is getting to where it will spike to 19psi and it runs like shit. It ran alot stronger with the stock mas on. So i guess it has something to do with the maft. I dont know what to do, it just keeps getting worse, and Im afraid to try and tune the maft because I have nothing to use to tune it with except an a/f ratio guage and I know those are not tuning tools. What can I do to fix this? If I have the maft set with just the injectors selected shouldnt it run better than stock? Somebody please help.

Do you have a logger of any kind? I'd check to see if your car is knocking...if it is your ECU will pull the timing to save the motor?!? Good luck

I doubt that its knocking and timing is being pulled seeing you're on the t-25 so you are probably super rich, since you have no logger, slowly lean the car out on the mid knob first counterclockwise 1 click at a time with the engine on, drive it and see if it starts to improve. If it does then go a little more. don't go too far because you won't know if you're too lean . Then do the same with wot knob. just a little though until the car feels "free" when you gas it. Hope thats what it is.

You cannot put a fuel tuning method on your car without tuning it! The stock MAFT settings don't quite cut it. You need a logger or at least a O2 voltage gauge.

It does sound like you are rich..horribly rich. You will likely need new plugs too, as they are pobably black. Lean out the MD and WOT.

The only reason I bought the maft is because when I put my bov on the car ran like shit so I figured I could go ahead and do the blow thru setup because I would eventually need it. I really havent had time to get a logger or anythinglike that. I was just going to run it like it is until I could afford a DSM Link or an AEM EMS, but Anywayz thanks for all the help and I will probobly try this today and let you know if it fixes the problem.

dont mean to state the obvious but is your MAF on the right way? as in the arrow is pointing to the intake. im not even sure if it has any bad affects reversed but hey, who knows.

on another note, if you cant get it to work, sell it to me :p

The mas is on the right way, the arrow is pointing towards the tb, I made sure of that. I messed with the maft and turned the mid knob counterclockwise one notch and I could tell a dramatic difference in the way the car acted. It ran a whole lot better, then after a while it started to do the same thing again and I noticed that it was burning more fuel than it normally does. I havent done anything with the wot knob yet but probably will now, and I will also adjust the mid one some more too. I dont know if this will help but I pulled one of my sparkplugs out and checked it and it had some of the carbon buildup around the rim of it(at the end of the threads) and the tip of the plug was kind of white.

i agree with the above post. You are probably running pretty rich. The base settings on the chart are enough to get your car running, but safely. They are not going to put your exact leaned out setting because all cars are different. From what i've read on full throttles dsm pages and in here and other forums, plus my own experience is that you usually have to click the base down a couple clicks, i have 680cc injectors, but my base is set to 650's right now.

Get a logger (Palm m105 is cheap and works and the MMCD software is free) so you can set your base while watching your trims. If you need any help, pm me.

I dont use the a/f guage to tune with because I know that they are not accurate. I just use it to get kind of an idea about what the car is doing. Anything is better than nothing. I guess I will get a pocketlogger and hopefully get everything straightened out but untill then I guess I will leave everything alone. Thanks for the help. :thumb:

A/F guage is better then nothing at all.

i'd rather use nothing. Whats the point of making assumptions on something that is completely inaccurate.

Basically what you said was you'd rather have bad information then none.

i beg to differ.
