These are the symptoms on my stock GSX:
Most of the time the clutch pedal feel is fine or a little weak. On occasion though the clutch pedal won’t disengage the clutch and subsequently won’t go into gear or rise back off the floor very far. To alleviate this problem I have to pump the clutch pedal to build enough pressure to lift the clutch off the flywheel. I checked the fluid and it was fine (I added a little to make sure). The pedal still feels as if it engages the clutch way to high and there isn’t enough pressure. When I brake mildly or hard, the clutch loses pressure (I am assuming that the fluid is continuing forward and leaking past the seals.

Question: Is this a problem more associated with the clutch master or clutch slave cylinder? (I did a search and tried to revive a thread but there was no response in the Drivetrain/tranny forum as I suspect nobody was reading down that far.)

When's the last time you bled your clutch? It's possible that there is air in the lines which is getting compressed when you depress the clutch. Make sure you know how to do it correctly.

The problem could lie in either the master or the slave. Try the cheaper replacement first.

Thanks for responding. I already went ahead and changed out the slave cylinder and bled the clutch lines (I had to teach my friend how to do it so he could help me... that was quite an ordeal, but at least he learned in the process :thumb: ) It seems to have done the trick and the old slave cylinders seals seemed worn. I had tried bleeding the lines before but air must have been getting into the lines through the leaks in the seals. Only time will tell if it really worked or if I need to bleed the lines again.
