After I accelerate hard and in between shifts if I let the RPMs drop down to 1k, instead of idling the car wants to stall (dash lights come on) and sometimes does! IAC is brand new and not venting. When the car is just sitting the idle is fine. Could it be the ECU going... bad driver?

hey man, check for boost leaks, and make sure that your air filter is on tight. I had the same exact problem, and it really depends what it could be, remember that you still have a turbo, which does make things just a LOT more difficult. i have fixed just about everything on my tsi. Most likely its a boost leak. Check your BOV, and recirculation hose, and if youre atmospheric, make sure that everything that needs to be plugged off, is plugged off. If you ever get where you car doesnt pull as hard, and its slow and feels like a regular 4 cylinder car, and that you dont have a turbo, it runs rich, then lean or vice versa... IT IS YOUR MAF SENSOR! (Mass Air Flow). This made me go nuts, but always check that out if you notice a performance problem like that, where it bogs and feels like it cuts out gas. Let me know if you have any other problems, or if what i said didnt work. if you need help knowing how to do it, also let us know. you can go to vfaq.com to find out how to use and make your own homemade boost leak tester, (IC Tester- Intercooler). It also helps if you have an air compressor, but make sure you dont go over the psi level that your turbo is set for. Take it easy.

I would definitely check for boost leaks also, and that the maf is not plugged. Make sure all electrical wires are plugged in, same with your vaccum lines. Another thing to keep in mind is your plugs and wires, i had a similar problem and 2 of my plugs were fouled badly. Also, i know that fuel filters can cause an array of problems similar to that.
