Torn CV Boot and Grinding

The front passenger side CV boot is torn and when the car is moved (running or not) there is a grinding noise from that area. Would I need to replace the whole passenger side drive shaft, is there a simpilar solution. Do you think the wheel bearing is shot?

buy a boot kit from local auto parts store for like $15, rent the tool to clamp the clamps... or just buy a new half shaft.

my axle wasnt that hard.....I dont know how diff. a 2G is from the 1G, but if you are hearing grinding it might not be a bad idea to replace it

Sounds like I'll be going the hal;f-shafts (just to be sure). This is on a GVR-4 btw

Yeah, that is probably you best bet: just replace the entire axle/half-shaft/whatever you want to call it. After you return the core, the cost isn't so bad and the labor is not too bad either.

When you buy your axle, the store (car quest in my case) will charge you full price, then when you are done replacing your axle, you then take in your old, used one (the core) and get about 40-50% back. They can send these cores in to get rebuilt for people that don't mind buying rebuilt parts. NAPA/Carquest is good cuz they come with a lifetime warranty, meaning even if the CB boot tears, they will replace the part for free.
