I think something may be wrong with my turbo (t23). This is my first car with a turbo so I am not well educated on what they should sound like, but whinies alot. I am an automatic, and it will whine from first into second gear and, until the engine is warm(about 2-5 min), every stop and go as well as through first. Is this what most turbos do??? Could mine have shaft play?? Any suggestion on what may be the problem would be helpful. thanks :dsm: :talon: :laser:

Check your turbo for shaft play by removing the intake tube and pushing/pulling in and out and back and forth on the compressor wheel/shaft. If it moves more than a CM left to right, or at all toward the front/rear of the car, you're gonna need a new turbo soon. Which is a good thing, because the T25 is a POS hairdryer.

Ok I will try that. Also I thought auto trans had a t23?? hmm oh well thanks alot these things shall be done, upon the rising of the sun. (poet didn't know it)

whoa people.

1. All 2g's had the same turbo (T25)
2. 1g auto's have a 13g

If it happens only until the engine is warm I doubt its the turbo since it would happend all the time.

Moved to problem diagnosis.
