Portage,
Hey all,

I have a 95 tsi awd, with an automatic. Couple weeks ago the engine developed a nasty ticking noise. So i started to rip apart the engine. I got the head off and sent it out for testing and all the test checked out fine. So now i am in the process of remove the bottom half. I have all the tubes/hoses/wires and varius other stuff moved out of the way. All i need to do is figure out these last few steps. 1st can u pull the block out and leave the tranny in? If so how. And if the tranny has to come out with the block, how do u get the transaxles disconnected? Thanks for any help. If u have good stuff please email me, [email protected]

Holy crap I am doing the same thing today. Can you get it out without taking the auto tranny out? Does anyone know the answers to his questions?

If pulling the engine is on the agenda........your better off pulling the engine/tranny as a combo.

The Axles come right out. Remove wheel, Remove large axle nut on the end, remove lower control arm bolt, remove bottom Strut bolt, pull out on front suspension assembly, wahhLaa, CV shaft. Driver side same except two carrier bolts under the AC Compressor.

Best of luck you two.
