Is it possible to get a G1 DSM started if you lost the key?

'm looking at buying a 1993 that needs some work. The owner says he can't find the key. I know on Ford's, all you have to do is drop the ignition switch to start the car. I was wondering if there is anyway I could get the car even cheaper from the seller because of this and somehow get the car started?

Sure. You can start just about any car without the key, like say if your car gets stolen and your column's busted open with wires exposed and cut. I would rather get a key made then do that personally. But Im not sure how much that would cost.. sorry bro

if anything you could get a chiltons book and look up the wiring diagram to see which wire is which and what to connect ... if that helps

you could always find out how much it would cost for a new key thingy in the column. . .

You can probably get a key cut off the VIN. If not that, then pull the passenger door lock and use the number on it.

If you can get the lock cylinder out, i have a spare lock cylinder + key laying around.

I used to run different keys for the locks and ignition for security reasons. The previous owner of my car made a copy of the key and i caught him trying to steal my car one night. He was frustrated that the key wouldn't start the car. Now he's still frustrated about it in jail. :laugh:
