I just finished a complete rebuild and a turbo / intercooler upgrade. I have ballpark safc settings entered. The engine seemed to have been assembled fine and everything turned well when it was in the stand. Its a built 2g block with a 1g head. I got done installing the turbo and all that other good stuff today and the car just won't start.
If I turn the key it will crank over and over and over, but it will never actually start. Every once in a while ( every 20-30 seconds of cranking ) it acts like it's going to start for a split second, and then it just dies out again. The gas is about 7 months old and my dumbass didn't put any preservatives in it because I wasn't planning on having it sit this long. Could that be part of the problem? I'm pretty sure everything is plugged in and I can smell the fuel from under the hood so I know it's pumping fuel. ( there are no leaks though ) I don't really see how it could not take in any air as long as the MAS is plugged in ... and the timing belt was also right and I just double checked it. Maybe some sensor isn't plugged in? I checked but couldn't find anything that wasn't ... What about a bad coilpack or ignition module? How do I check those? I have 1g stuff installed which I got from a friend and it was supposedly working fine, but should I try to hook up my 2g stuff and see what happens since I know that works? Do the coilpacks have to be grounded anywhere, or can they just lay there for testing purposes? What about the ignition module? Any other ideas besides bad coilpack / ignition module or bad gas?
Oh ... I'm reusing my stock 97 cam angle sensor .. I just tapped the cam and bolted it in and it seems fine ...
Please help I wanna drive this car!!!
