Ive been having my share of problems with my head install on my 92 6 bolt. Now the head gasket keeps blowign out, and I take it all apart and use a different gasket and the car runs for like 20 seconds then looses compression. Im doing the whole torqueing right and in the right order. Am I suposed to slowly torque each bolt down, or just put 80lbs on each bolt at once?(im doing it llike 20 then 40 then 60 then 80 on each bolt, in sequence). If the block is warped what would be the best head gasket to use to get around blowing the gasket out? So far ive used the cometic head gasket and a crummy material gasket that I got in a kit for 50 dolalrs. Im using ARP head studs, Ive posted before and I really need help with this. PLEASE HELP, Ive dumped every dime in this and cant figure it out

My guess would be that the block and/or head is warped. I don't think there is a gasket that won't blow if the head or block is warped. Also you are using gasket sealer right?

I did the it over 3 times with 2 differnt heads. heads are refurbed. the 3rd time i did it with gasket sealer

I agree with what SpeedFreak03 about your head and/or block warped. Take the head to a machine to have them check it out. If they say it's good then you'll have mess with l the block.

Recently I just did a head gasket on my 7bolt. I took my cylinder head to a machine shop to have everything checked out, cleaned, and a valve job. I used the cometic head gasket and arp head studs from Slowboy Racing. For installation, first I tightened all the studs by hand, then torqued in sequence to 58ft-lbs, loosen all in reverse order, and torqued in sequence to 25ft-lbs, and finally to 65ft-lbs. The car fired right up and ran to normal temp. This is when I called quits for the evening. Next morning I torqued in sequence to 82ft-lbs. Car has been running great but I need to a compression test to see if the valve job improved the comp. numbers.

ps-I did not use any gasket sealer on my car. Didn't know that I had to.

Are you dipping them in oil before you torque them and if I am not mistaken I think they are only suppose to be torqued to 65 ft/lbs, 80 seems a bit much which if that is the case then you can warp the cylinder head that way and that would explain your head gasket problem and why it has happened with two differnet heads, but that's just me.

no there suposed to be hand tightened and then the nuts are suposed to be torqued to 80lbs as it states in the instructions with the studs. most people go more few go less. Your not suposed to use oil your suposed to use the arp stuff they give you with the studs. Im sure oil works fine but they say specificaly to use that I think its oil if the holes go into the water jacket.
