I still seem to have a misfire. It happens when the car idles, and when im driving at partial throttle. i have a 94 eclipse 2.0, ive put in bp6res plugs, gapped at 0.40, put in new wires all correctly, and it still seems to misfire, i cant figure out why. Is there anything else i need to check, im not sure if it would be the coil because that either works, or it doesnt. Am i running the right heat range on plugs, i usually run the bp7res, but im mildly modified(intake, header, exhaust etc....) which plug would be better, and what else could cause this problem, if anyone could give me some ideas it would be greatly appreciated, its been doin this for about about 3 weeks and its very annoying and I need help with it. Thanks.

I've allways heard to gap the plugs at .32, but you must know something I don't. It sounds to me that your CAS might be off. Try advancing it.

I don't know if this applies to a 1g engine in a 1g car, but in my 1g swapped into 2g car it was the ECU that gave me the stuttering and code. I did the potentiometer mod and solved it. I've tried new plugs, wires, fuel filter, checked the ignition coils, and injectors but it turned out to be the ECU.

Whats the CAS? And where can I get this pontentiometer for the ECU? I pulled out my ECU and looked at it and it didnt seem to have any dark marks on it or the caps didnt look like they were leaking. Do you think i should put my gap down to 0.32? Last night i put it at 0.38 and it still seemed to do it. It doesnt do it under WOT, only partial throttle, only when im just cruisin at low rpm's like 2,000-3,000. Thanks for the help. Anyone else?

Don't change your spark plug gap you had it right. Keep it between .39 and .43 for Non Turbo engine. Replace the caps in your ECU before you do melt them. Mine didnt really smell but when I took them off I could see the damage had started.

Are you getting any engine codes when it misfires? Try pulling them

i dont have any type of code reader, but im thinkin of taking it to autozone because they do that for free. my check engine light isnt on either. and where do you get the new caps and how hard is it to do?

Sorry, I should have looked to see if it were a N/T or not. Duh..

Does anybody else know what could be causing this misfire, should i try to gap my plugs to something else, they seem to be black around the round part, im not sure what the parts on the plug are called, but the electrode part is sorta white(running lean) and the ring around it is black. what else could cause a misfire besides plugs, wires, and coil?

well i didnt check the plugs right after driving, it was dry but the car sat over night
