bad noise from wheel

Yesterday my car began making a scratching or dragging noise that comes from the passenger side front wheel. More specifically, it gets faster with the speed I am travelling and gets worse when I apply the brakes. It seems like something is dragging along the rotor or something but it seemed okay when I looked at it. Is this a fairly common problem? Is it just a warped rotor? Or some bad pads? Its not a squeal.. definitely more of a drag, and when I brake it feels horrible and the sound becomes more of a constant crunching noise. My old SE-R had a warped rotor but it didn't sound nearly this bad. Any ideas? I drive a 97 GS-T with stock suspension, brakes, wheels, and tires.

It maybe be that you've got a slight pinch on the wheel between the rotor and the wheel. When i put on my wheel it was making this horrible sound like a scraping or draging. I would take the wheels off and then put it on very carefully making sure every lug nut is equally torqued down. Also check your brake dust sheild, becuase that may be bent to where it's hitting the spinning rotor.

Make sure all your lugnuts are still on. Dunno if it's the same, but can at least look.... it happened to me.

Well I took the whole thing apart with some friends and it turned out that I just had a really REALLY badly worn pad on the piston side. There was no pad left and it had been grinding the metal. The rotor was too notched to be turned so I had to buy a new rotor as well as some new pads.. it came out to $60 total. I guess I'm just too used to the more gentle reminder to get new pads that I got from my Nissan.. just an annoying squeal. Anyway, this was all of a sudden so I'm guessing there was a problem with the noise warning thing. Thanks for the help, I was certain it would end up being a bent dust shell thing like you said.
