I'm in a world of shit. Headbolt nut stripped

I'm trying to pull my head off. It's an ARP bolt. It would be #1 in the tourqeing sequence. #10 in the removal sequence. The 12point socket won't grab hold of the nut.

I'm gonna get a 12 point impact socket and see if there is enough ribs left on the bolt to grab hold.

I don't think I can get a nut splitter in there and if I could I'm not it would bust the hardened bolt.

Any suggestions would be highly aprreciated.

Make up our minds. Is it a bolt, or is it a nut on a stud?

How have you damaged it? Is it part of the flats, or all the way down the sides?

Post a picture if you can.

It's the nut that goes on the stud. I rounded off the ribs of the nut.

Bought a brand new 12 pt socket. Put a 6inch extension on it, rapped it with a hammer few times and it came loose.

You should use 6 pt sockets with anything that has substantial torque. You're only asking for trouble with the 12's.

you cant get a 6 point socket on arp nuts, they are only made for 12points.
