Hey everyone. Here's the scenario. I was testing out a cheaply made boost control. So I get on the highway in 3rd and floor it to gain full boost. It seems to hold at 10 which is weird first off because it hasn't held ever before, but even though it was holding at 10 it seemed to be losing power as i went. So i shift into 5th and cruise to a light then notice the car practically stalls out when i don't have my foot on the gas at all. Anyway, I park it after hardly getting it to move from a stop and first I thought it was the plugs cause I had just got the 6E... ngk ones so I put back my old ones and determined it wasn't them. Then I thought it was the injectors so I replaced those (had to replace the fuel rail too since it snapped when my friend was trying to tighten it on wrong) and then I found out the first cyl and fourth cyls aren't sparking at all. No clue why, does anyone know what the problem could be? Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks a lot.

theres 2 coil packs i think the #1 and #4 are on the same coil and 2 and 3 are on the other 1. 1 may be bad. but the power tr moduel controls the coil packs it can go bad an only send spark to 1 pack, but not to the other. check those 2 things out.

on the front of the coil pack it will have the firing order on it and u can see which side is the #1 and #4 coil.

Thanks, that makes a lot of since, since it's kind of random that both 1st and 4th would stop firing at the same time for no apparent reason. By the way, what can cause a coil over to just stop working like that?

old age, heat. the coil is a bundle of wire around a metal pole or electrode incased in a jelly like consisity liquid (kinda like a dry cell battery dunno how else to explain what 1 is) to keep it cool if that liquid dries out it goes bad and burns up.

Just a couple more questions. Is there anything I can check that will guarentee me that it is the coil over and if I want to buy another one will any 1g coilpack work or do only certain years work with certain cars? Thanks again.

1g 2.0 n/t and turbo you can use, same with the power tr moduel.
take the coil pack to someone who can test it with an ohm meter to see if the readings is within whatever tolerence it should be in, i took mine to auto zone.

its either the coil or the tr moduel. swap em out with known good ones to see if it helps.

if worse comes to worse it could also be your ecu
