Failed Emissions...bogus Testing?

Ok so i went to get my emissions tested today and i reset my ecu before i went in thinking they'd see my cel otherwise...so i go in and they throw my car on the dyno...but my car is obd II...i believe they are supposed to do an obd test are they not??? also i have heard that normally on the dyno test they are not supposed to be flooring it and hitting full boost yet when i did a replay on my BLItz SBCid i saw they hit full boost in my car...i am quite upset that i failed and they didnt even properly test my vechicle.........any suggestions? anyone have this problem before? and i know that the cel that is normally there is from emissions but i just put new stock exhaust components on so i could pass (stock dp and cat) but the cel is still there so i am guesssing its the o2 sensors any other possibilities... o ya and couldnt i just lean out my safcII since it was only the hydrocarbons that i failed??? thanks for the help sorry so long....sorry if this isnt the right board to post this on
 
Man that really sucks. Is carol stream up near chicago or down near st louis, up here in springfield we dont have that emissions b.s. You ought to complain about them running the piss out of your car. Is that even standard procedure when testing a car for emissions??
 
i am really close to chicago 30 min drive....standard is holding it aroun 3k rpm or so and fastest they are supposed ot go is 57mph....i seemed a lot faster than that....not to mention how many times i heard the bov go offf at full boost! i was so pissed
 
They probably did not do the OBD-II test as your car is a '95. OBD-II was not mandated until '96, and everything EXCEPT for the DSM's didn't get OBD-II until '96 :) They probly have no clue that your car has OBD-II!
 
or u could up and move just barely across the border into Iowa, Keep you the closest to Chicago. LOL I would take that up with someone. Thats not right, people use people too often in this world. If they wanted a ride, they shouldve asked.
 
If you only failed for hydrocarbons and you CO numbers are down then i would assume that it is not a mixture problem. if you post your results from the test i would probobly be able to help you out a bit more. but you may have a malfunctioning PCV system.
Or your canister purge system could be malfunctioning also.
Usually in my experience here in canada if a car fails solely for hydrocarbons and the NOx and CO are both way low then there is either an internal engine problem or a problem with the two systems i listed above.

Sometimes ive found that playing with timing a bit will bring hydrocarbons down enough to pass the test.
course you would need some kind of controller such as the Apexi ITC.

Emissions testing i think is the biggest money grab i have seen in a long long long time. and im only 22.
 
Are you venting your bov or is it recirculated? Why don't you just find out what the cel is? Take it to autozone or somethin man it's free. I failed all three simply because I wasn't recirculating.

I call huge "duh" on that one. Cars are getting so clean that smog testing them is only a tax instrument anymore. Out here, they've gone to the extent of the dyno test on the damned things (not AWD, yay), which costs the shop at least $30K to get in to. And which politician's cousin is getting rich on selling the dynos?

Bah, don't even start me.
