wierd noise.....lifters?

my car has recently started making a wierd noise....i would think it is the lifters but i want some more opinions. It is a pinging noise that coincides with the RPMs and it starts to do it at 2500-3000 RPMs. It used to do it every once in a while but it is starting to be more consistent. The loudness of the noise does not change with RPM, it just gets quicker. But the times when it is doing this there is no lifter tap at idle. My car is more or less stock with about 96000 miles. What do you think? Thanks

this is just common valve knock, it was known common in the 1g's, mitsu tried to fix it for the 2g but their attempt dident work, but its no big deal it its just ur valves knocking. as long as there is not performace loss or it isnt unbearably loud, ur good to go
