Need Help! Car dies all of a sudden!

I just got a 95 Talon Tsi FWD 5spd, and I've had it for about 4 days, been acting fine, I also own a 97 GST AT. But tonight on my way home from work, the car just turned off! Out of no where, some weird light came on, looks like a little intercooler light, never saw it on my GST. Start the car up and it dies again, then I have to start it and step on the gas and rev high to get the car moving. But at every light there after, it tried to die, not sure whats going on, I did the free mods like 1 day ago, dump tube mod, and restrictor plug removal. It was fine the whole day up intil a few hours ago. I started it up again and took it for a spin, and 5 min into the drive it died again, and this time everytime I start it, it dies. I'm still kinda new to DSM's came from Honda world, so not sure what to look for here. Any help would be appreciated.

my car would suddenly die while going down the road, did this for two weeks..the suddenly one day it died and tried to start but couldnt turn over...sounds to me like your a victim of cw....or your venting...i didnt see if u were or not
 
I don't think its crankwalk..the car shouldn't turn over at all if that were the case.

That little "intercooler" light is your coolant light, so I would check that out.

Just some advice if the car keeps killing like that let it die and get it toe'd...doing what you did could quickly make a $200 project into a $2,000 project.
 
While I can't tie in the coolant light to it, could you have blown something in the intake tract? i.e. popped off one of the i/c pipes? I think that would fit your description of how it's running.

Wait, what "restrictor plug removal" mod? that doesn't ring a bell for some reason...
 
Well we don't know anything yet so we can't help. Do this then get back to us.

#1 check coolant level
#2 tell us what the temp gauge was doing
#3 check your compression
#4 check if you have spark on all cylinders
#5 check the ISC

Do those and let us know what you found then we can maybe help ya :D
 
#1 coolant level is fine
#2 the temp gauge did nothing, stayed normal
#3 How can I check compression?
#4 I will check in the morning if I have spark on all cylinders, I'm sure its fine other wise it would idle funny or run like crap right?
#5 Whats ISC?
