Hey guys whats up. Thanks for comming in and looking to see if you could help.

I've already done searches on boost leak, no boost, wont boost, fuel cut....... and i still cant find someone who has or had the same problem as me. I am a very anal person when it comes to my car so i decided to start this thread.

Here's the scenario. My friend Chris and I just finished doing a boost leak test on my car and took it out for a spin afterwords. Everything was cool, she was haulin some serious ass around the backroads here. We get back into town and decide to do a POWER run on it. I slipped it from 2.5-3.0 RPM and we were off. 10 psi in 1st, 13 in second, shift into 3rd and it happened. It felt exactly like fuel cut is described, hitting a brick wall. I was soooo scared, I thought I royaly Fuged up 3rd, then I came to my sences. My problem is I dont know what happens after fuel cut. For my situation right now, lets go back to the story. I let off the gas and it went back into vac. instead of boost, when I tried to boost up again it was the same thing, a HUGE lag(in power). It was like the reverse feeling of VTEC(im not joking). Insted of a power increase when you hit boost, it felt like the car bucked and slowed down a bit. So I shift into 4th and coast N/A the 1/2 mile down the road back to my house. If anyone could please help or tell me what they think it is and how to correct it, it would be greatly apreciated.

have you done a leak test after the problem? it may have sprug a leak from the power run? The car didnt' stall or anything? Was there any smoke coming from the car? Do you have an EGT gauge or data loger if so was there knock or did the egts rise?

Car was still running after the incident, no smoke, data logger is worthless(program got erased when batteries died), and no i dont have an EGT. Tell anyone you know that can help with this to look because this car is the only thing I have to my name and if it goes, I'm left with literally nothing.

thanks for looking:thumb:

Sounds like you blew a coupler on the intake pipes, or rather there is a clamp that leaks under boost and reseals under vaccum. Under boost, some air is leaking and some is getting into the engine. Under vaccum, the coupler seals itself. This is more common than you think.

Redo the intake test and go over all the clamps.

Yea sounds like a blown IC pipe to me. Just redo the boost leak test like the other guy said and u should fiend the problem.

yo cornbread i got an idea. bring your ass over to my house and help me out. im right by ridgeway center/ bullshead diner. LOL!

Ok I'm going to try another boost leak test today, but dont stop the comments yet. If anyone else has any idea of what could be up, please share. I'm open to any and all suggestions.

And thanks to the people that have contributed so far. :thumb:

Good luck man I have the exact problem in my car…I know the feeling its like slamming into a wall…mines in 3rd as well at about 13 psi. Cars in the garage for the winter for a complete rebuild. Before people told me to check MAF. Look if the honey comb shit isn’t damage. and if u figure it out let me know.

It wouldn't hurt for you guys to make a habit of checking your intercooler piping every time you are under the hood.

Just a little bit of helpful advice, as I have done this for as long as I've owned the car, and have never blown a coupler off.

i usually do check the IC piping but the last time i did a leak test we took care of all those connections so i didnt think it would be the most likely suspect beings we did them like a month ago. but either way i will check them again.

Yo people,

It's fixed. I live right down the street from siceclipse so I helped him out. (beat you to it cornbread... :D )

He blew the the hose clamp right off of the the upper intercooler pipe. Specifically the hose that comes off of the BOV and into the intake manifold. He blew if off the on the BOV side.

We did a boost leak test after replacing the hose clamp and that seemed to fix the problem. We also took it for a pretty long test drive to pick up a second hose clamp to do a double clamp job to prevent this from happening again and it boosted just like it should with no detectable leak.

We thank you for the info and advice.

Regards,
CMF
