What could this be? Rides fine when I am cruising or turning, but once I apply the brakes it vibrates the hole car. Warped rotor? Could it be a bad bushing? Any ideas, muchos gracius

Hehe, mental image of a dsm swerving all over just pulling up to a stoplight....

Just take the rotors off the front and get them turned (not sure how much that would be - never had to get it done). Oreillys or autozone or anyother parts store should be able to do it cheap. The other option would be brake places or a machine shop.

On second thought, find a local machine shop and have them do it.

The biggest cause of warped rotors is a combination of 1. overtorqued/incorrectly torqued wheel lug nuts and 2. Stopping too fast.

If I have any work done at a shop (for me I think the only time I let anyone else work on it is for the state safety inspection) I immediately go home and loosen the lug nuts and torque them properly (both to the right torque and in a star pattern). Never had any trouble with warped rotors and I am pretty brutal on my brakes (the problem I do have is overheating them and cracking the pads :D ).

Beefier front brakes are ALWAYS a plus. On a DSM, you typically do not need to upgrade the rears, seeing how (when under braking) a DSM has most of it's weight transferred to the front end.

Turning rotors should be around 20-50 bucks.

Why when you can have all new for 15 a piece?

You mean they're the same rotors _you_ want to turn just "new".

You'd be better off spending a little extra money on a nice set of rotors that won't warp at the end of the garage you pull out of.

I understand what you're saying though :) I just didn't know you had $15 rotors on there as it is.

They are factory rotors, I can buy factory rotors for 15 a piece, aftermarket wich the parts guy says are the exact same thing for 8 dollars, but any way, I think I will just buy these cheapies til I get my wheels, stock 16's are too small to fit the aem rotor upgrade.

On the topic, I dont think it is the rotors any more, the vibrations are not linear with the speed of the car or the amount of force I use with the pedal. Seems to shimmy some thing nasty in medium braking only. When I am stopping hard it is smooth, when I lightly do a speed check it is smooth, but if I apply the brakes at a medium leval and hold it the front end starts hoppin around and makes the front steering wheel very sensitive, goes left or right with out assistance. I am leaning on a broken bolt or shitty bushing some where. I think I will take it to big 0 reel quick and see what they say..

Does it feel loose or making any popping sounds if you jerk the wheel back and forth quickly (do this at a low speed :p like 15 mph or so).

i had that problem, oreilys couldnt resurface my rotors cause they had no life left on them at all, so i got there top of the line ones they work awesome, there like 50 bucks but i got them for 20 bucks each cause i got the hookup, i got some of there lifetime warranty brake pads also i keep returning them after 6 months and they gimme new ones definely an awesome deal, whoever made that warranty up is probably kicking themselves in the ass every 6 months cause of me HAHA.
