Calgary,
Hi guys, here's the scenario. I recently changed my CV axles, without any hitches. I think it went well. That was about 2 months ago. I also don't have the best balanced wheels. My power steering rack is also shot. I don't know if any of these have anything to do with the noise, but I just like to be sure.
The NOISE: it is a rubbing/thumping that happens in relation to speed, not RPM or brakes. It seems to quiet a whole bunch when the steering wheel is not exactly straight. It is hardly noticeable until about 30-40 MPH or so. I can't really feel it through the steering wheel.
I put the car up on blocks yesterday(AWD) and put in in gear and listened/looked for the noise, but I couldn't find it mostly because I didn't want to get the wheels spinning that fast. Any opinions? Transmission? CV axles? Alignment? ANY help would be appreciated.
