I've searched and found nothing on this, so here it goes.

I installed a Megan Short Shifter in my 97 GSX.
Its stock height, but shortened the throw (I believe).

Sometimes I can't get it into first gear. I have to push it into 3rd, then pull back and slide it over and into first. Otherwise, I feel like I'd snap a bolt if I tried to ram it into first. However, if I drop the clutch pedal and put pressure on the shifter, going into first gear, it will slide in smoothly into place before I come to a complete stop.

When shifting through gears, the shifter stops before engaging the next gear in sequence for a small period of time. It goes something like this:

Pull off in 1st.
Clutch pedal down.
Pull shifter down to second.
Shifter stops short, almost as if in neutral.
Shifter then continues into 2nd.
Release clutch pedal.
Drive in second.
Clutch pedal down.
Push shifter up to 3rd.
Shifter pauses again before going into the gear.

In addition, the shifter seems to only be able to go into 3rd if my RPMs are near 2-3k. It will simply not go into the gear until the RPMs drop. I've had it at 4-5k in 2nd, then tried to shift, but it wouldn't engage 3rd until the RPMs dropped, and it made me feel like a failure. LOL

I suspect something may be wrong somewhere, but since this is my first manual transmission, I'm not quite sure where to look.

Any advice would be very much appreciated.

Have you made any progress with this issue? (2 months later) I've also had a similar issue, although mine is a bit the opposite, downshifting is a bit tough for my car if I don't match the RPMs. Not that I have fixed it on my car yet, currently my car won't disengage the engine when i push on the clutch to try to shift into any gear. I believe it is probably all a related situation so hopefully once I get it running again it will be running smoother.

Also, this post probably would be responded to faster in the http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/maintenance-repairs/ section.
